Why go solar with Elective Pay?

Understanding Elective Pay

Elective Pay (also known as Direct Pay) is a provision of the Inflation Reduction Act that allows tax-exempt entities — like churches, schools, and community centers — to receive federal solar tax credits as a direct cash refund. This means your nonprofit can reduce your solar project's cost by 30% or more.

The state of Michigan has brought together a team of experts to help your community-serving organization tap into these significant savings with low-cost financing, making it even more impactful to go solar now.

The Importance of Solar Energy

Energy bills are at an all-time high; Michigan residents pay 18% higher than the U.S. average. Floods, storms, and other extreme weather events are increasingly endangering our communities. Solar energy can dramatically reduce your organization's energy costs. When paired with battery storage, solar creates local resilience, keeping the lights on and providing critical services to the community during grid outages.

Low-Cost Financing

The state of Michigan has brought together a team of experts to help your organization tap into significant savings with low-cost financing, made possible through the EGLE grant. Due to limited funding, projects are supported on a first-come, first-served basis.
